It's Backyard Asada season!

As the weather warms up, Backyard Asada Season is in full swing, and we’re kicking it off by hosting a community asada. Backyard asadas are one of our Siete familia's favorite ways to gather, so we're excited to share the tradition with you, our extended familia!

We're gathering alongside our friends from
Livi's MexicueTareVeracruz, and Ensenada to grill up a delicious meal for you and yours to enjoy! The evening will include a Carne asada dinner* (courtesy of our Siete chefs and our talented pitmaster + chef friends, too!), live music, kid crafts + activities and so much more!

*There will be gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options.

There's nothing quite like being outdoors with loved ones, smelling the smoky aroma of a fire burning and carne asada/veggies grilling, enjoying chips and salsa galore, and dancing the night away together. Gathered around the grill with friends, family, and neighbors, we're celebrating togetherness. Because everyone is invited! Juntos es Mejor.

The full ticket price will be donated to
El Buen Samaritano food access programs.

El Buen Samaritano serves the Latino community of Central Texas by ensuring access to healthcare, education, and essential needs. They want to treat people with dignity and help them lead healthy, productive, and secure lives.

Meet the Chefs + Pitmasters

David Ovalle from Livi’s Mexicue

David Ovalle is the founder and owner of Livi’s Mexicue, one of Laredo’s most exciting and flavorful culinary gems. Born and raised in Laredo, David’s passion for cooking was ignited during family weekend barbecues, where he developed a love for grilling and smoking meats—skills that would later fuel his culinary journey.

Drawing from his roots, David began developing a bold and unforgettable cooking style that blended the smoky soul of Texas BBQ with the vibrant flavors of traditional Mexican cuisine—what he calls "Mexicue."

With help from a close friend in Austin who believed in David’s vision, they acquired their first food truck—and in 2021, Livi’s Mexicue was officially born, named lovingly after their daughter, Olivia.

At Livi’s Mexicue, our mission is to bring families together with the perfect blend of authentic Mexican flavors and Texas-style barbecue. We are dedicated to creating unforgettable dining experiences that turn every meal into a cherished memory.

Michael Carranza from Tare

Michael Carranza is the chef and co-owner of Tare, a hidden sushi omakase restaurant in Austin, Texas. Born and raised in South Texas, Michael’s culinary approach blends his Mexican-American roots with a deep respect for Japanese technique, resulting in thoughtful, seasonal dishes that reflect both cultures. After years of doing in-home dinners with his partner, Michael opened Tare in 2024 — a small, intimate space that’s since been recognized by the Michelin Guide.

Michael is passionate about sourcing intentionally, from vegetables grown just outside the city to seafood flown in directly from Japan’s Toyosu Market. He also works closely on the development of Tare’s beverage program, lending his palate and ideas to cocktails that lean into Asian and Mexican flavors, as well as curated sake pairings. Michael is a certified SSI Sake Adviser and holds a WSET Level 2 Award in Sake.

In the new year, he will debut Bare (pronounced “bar-a”), a new cocktail bar opening beneath Tare.

Whether at the chef's counter or behind the scenes, Michael’s goal is simple: to create food and experiences that feel personal, vibrant, and full of soul.

Reyna Vazquez from Veracruz

From a young age, Reyna was immersed in the kitchen, learning the art of cooking from her mother, who ran a fondita in Veracruz, Mexico. This early exposure to authentic flavors and family recipes ignited a lifelong passion for food. After immigrating to the United States, Reyna's love for cooking only grew stronger, and alongside it, her entrepreneurial spirit flourished.

In 2008, Reyna co-founded Veracruz All Natural with her sister, combining the rich culinary lessons from her childhood with her own creativity to develop a unique and vibrant menu. Despite her early success, Reyna never stopped learning. She has continually honed her skills, seeking out new culinary techniques and inspirations to keep evolving and pushing the boundaries of her craft.

Her dedication to quality, authenticity, and innovation has turned Veracruz All Natural into a taco empire, recognized locally and nationally. Now, 17 years later, Reyna has expanded the brand to include a full dine-in restaurant, serving iconic dishes inspired by her hometown of Veracruz.
Reyna’s journey from a small fondita to a beloved restaurant brand is a testament to her talent, hard work, and commit
